IBS is an intestinal disorder that causes discomfort in the stomach. The actual cause of the disorder has remained unknown. Abnormal nervous system signals, high level of sensitivity to pain and inability of the body to tolerate with certain foods are the things that are believed to cause this disorder.

Also IBS can be as a result of overgrown intestinal bacteria and imbalance of reproductive hormones in the body. Also genetics can cause IBS though this has not been fully proved.

IBS can be tested by diagnosis of common symptoms in a period of at least half a year. IBS tests are normally carried out through blood testing, stool testing and the use of X-rays. By use of blood test method, two blood tests may be useful in diagnosing IBS. One test is for IBS with diarrhea only and the other is for diarrhea and constipation.

This condition has no cure but medications are given to relieve IBS symptoms. It is treated by change if lifestyle and foods to be taken and relieving medications. The reason for this way of treatment is because IBS is all about how you eat and what you eat.

Some foods such as fiber supplements, foods rich in carbohydrates and herbs such an Aloe Vera help reduce the symptoms. Alsowater helps a lot. Sometimes high fiber foods do help but can be worse if taken in much more quantities. one should not exceed a certain amount of foods rich in fiber per day. Do not take foods such as dairy products, vegetables that has high amount of gas, fried foods, Caffeine, alcohol and artificial sweeteners. Exercises are recommended for these patients and there should be no smoking.
